What is the ABN// Zero CO2 programme?

ABN// Zero CO2 is an area of collaboration with our customers that offers the possibility of supplying products with a carbon offset footprint.

How is it compensated?

La compensación de la huella de carbono es un proceso que busca reducir las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero mediante la inversión en proyectos que reducen o evitan emisiones. La idea es que si una persona, organización o producto no puede reducir sus propias emisiones de manera suficiente, pueda compensarlas mediante la inversión en proyectos que reduzcan emisiones en otro lugar.

There are several ways to offset the carbon footprint, such as investing in renewable energy projects, reforestation, biodiversity conservation, among others. Carbon offset projects are usually certified by independent organisations that verify that the emissions reduced or avoided are real, measurable and additional.

What is a carbon footprint?
Every day, all of us generate greenhouse gas emissions that accumulate in the atmosphere and are responsible for climate change. The total of these emissions generated directly or indirectly by a person, organisation, event or product is known as the carbon footprint.
How it is calculated?
The carbon footprint is calculated by measuring the greenhouse gas emissions (mainly carbon dioxide) that are caused directly or indirectly by a person, organisation or product. These emissions are measured in tonnes of CO2 equivalent (tCO2e) and can include direct emissions, such as the use of fossil fuels to generate electricity, as well as indirect emissions, such as greenhouse gas emissions caused by the production and transport of products. Once emissions have been measured, different methods can be used to calculate the carbon footprint and compare it to a standard or a set limit.
What does it mean to offset your carbon footprint?
Carbon footprint offsetting is a process of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by investing in projects that reduce or avoid emissions. The idea is that if a person, organisation or product cannot reduce its own emissions sufficiently, it can offset them by investing in projects that reduce emissions elsewhere. ABN provides voluntary compensation for the material supplied for a specific project or project by collaborating in UN Platform projects with carbon credits proportional to the material supplied.
Is there any document that proves the offsetting I make?
Yes, we will send you a digital certificate of the voluntary cancellation of emissions. This certificate will indicate the name of the beneficiary to whom the certificate is presented and the reason for the offset.
